Ideas for new HoF achievements

I am in the process of tweaking the back end of the Hall of Fame, as a part of this process I am also tweaking the way that I award medals and achievements at the end of the age. Currently, in order to add a new medal or achievement, I need to delete all the awards, and then run through the scripts again. The reworked version will allow me to retrospectively add awards and achievements, without having to delete and re-award the lot.

This essentially means that I can start thinking about adding new achievements, and also retrospectively awarding those achievements to past ages (assuming that the required tracking was possible during that age). I currently store the entire databases of previous ages, including the tables that record activity on a per-turn basis. This means I can retrospectively create awards for a lot of in-game scenarios;

e.g.
  • Achievement for building 4000 fortresses
  • Achievement for building 50% temples on a +10,000 acres kingdom
  • Achievement for being the player who attacked the largest number of different kingdoms over the age
  • Achievement for storing the most scouts in the database
Some ideas for achievements are not currently 'easily' trackable, but could be if I edited the code. It may be that there is a way of backdating the achievement, but maybe not. Those sort of achievements could start to accumulate after tracking is in place.

e.g.
  • Achievement for sending the most cash to allies in need
  • Achievement for intercepting the most cash from heathens
  • Achievement for looting the most cash from heathens
Basically, I'd like to use this thread to build up a selection of ideas for Medals and Achievements. Medals should be really special, currently they are only used for 1st place in the end of age scores. However, I'm not adverse to creating other medals.

Make suggestions including an idea for the award name, like this:

Award Type: Medal
Award Name: Hail to the King
Award Description: This medal is awarding to the player with the greatest networth at the end of a game instance. To finish as King, the instance must have been played with a male kingdom leader.

Award Type: Achievement
Award Name: Killed the Thief with Thievery
Award Description: This achievement is awarded to players who managed to kill a Centaur kingdom using the Thievery screen. To be awarded this achievement, the kill must have been made on a Centaur kingdom (5/5 Thief Defence), by a kingdom that is not Centaur (5/5 Thief Offence).

etc.

Feel free to suggest names for achievements I've used as examples. Please also link to any old threads with award ideas (either here or back at tempers ball) if you can find them.

So..perhaps something like

Award Type: Achievement
Award Name: Archmage
Award Description: Awarded to the player with the highest temple count at the end of an age.

Award Type: Achievement
Award Name: General
Award Description: Awarded to the player with the highest barracks count at the end of an age.

Award Type: Achievement
Award Name: Head of the Thieves Guild
Award Description: Awarded to the player who had the highest networth of thieves at the end of an age

Yes those are the sort of thing. But I'll add that they don't have to be 'at the end of the age' awards.

I'd quite like to have some achievements that can be achieved at any point 'during' the age. They get tracked as the age goes on, and then get awarded at the end with the other medals and achievements.

For example, my suggestion of "Achievement for building 50% temples on a +10,000 acres kingdom" would be achieved if you reached the requirement at any point during an age, not just by having that status at the very end.

That way people don't have to be so lucky with regards to whether or not they are still standing when the age ends.

Conquest is a great example of why this is needed. Generally, only one kingdom is still living at the end, and that doesn't really mean anything at all in relation to how the age has gone, it's simply a matter of luck and timing.

- X% of land built as temples (something high, like 50%)

16. The Devout
- X+Y% of land built as temples (something really high, like 80%)

17. Unbreakable
- Survive attacks from X different kingdoms without dying (until those kingdoms have each died)

18. It's Only a Flesh Wound!
- Kill a kingdom ranked above you after being brought withing X acres of death

Archangel's ideas from that thread are cool =) should use most if not all, why not?

Also, maybe Faith-specific awards to accumulate during the age? sans specifics at the moment, something like scumming awards for sneaky heathen Letos; war (and "warmongering"?) awards for Red folkz; an' sorc awards from Angie.

One suggestion I would have had, you mentioned in your intitial post. In fact, I like all the suggestions or ideas in your initial post. :) If I come up with something super special and orginal I'll post, but I like the suggestions going on right now just fine.

Cool suggestions, there are a few that might be complex to track, but I like that we have an increasing selection to chose from now. Keep them coming.

Feel free to also suggest Guild or Quad awards too.

-Make 7 war declarations on one kingdom within a 8 day period.

-Kill a realm using only level 6 sorcery (no detection of level 3 sorcery permitted).

-PL a realm to 1% built or less.

-Leave a realm at one full attack from dead for more than 24 hours.
