Downhit Checks

What are they?
The downhit checks designed for the old Solo game have been incorporated into Massacre.

They prevent a kingdom from declaring war on another kingdom, they do not prevent a kingdom from attacking another kingdom.

When will they effect me?
When you attempt to declare war on a target, your land is compared to the land of the kingdom you wish to declare war on.

If 90% of your total land exceeds their total land, you will be unable to declare war on them.

Are there exceptions?
Yes, read on to find out more.

Why would I need to declare war?
You can attack another kingdom 3 times before the game forces to you declare war. You can move on to other kingdoms, but after 9 total attacks you will be unable to attack for 24 hours.

Unless you declare war, which enables you to attack at will.

What if I cant declare, but they attacked me with war or sorcery first?
There are a couple of instances when you will still be able declare war, this is the first of them.

When attempting to declare war, we have a look at the 9 attack slots on the target kingdom. If they include your kingdom number, you can declare.

What if I cant declare, but they performed scum actions first?
Scum actions do not update the 9 attack slots, therefore you would be unable to declare war on a smaller kingdom, based on scum actions.

What happens if they have a higher networth than me?
This is the second exception to the downhit checks. If your target has equal or greater networth, you may declare war on them.

Does this effect NPC Kingdoms?
Yes, these checks are active when declaring war on any realm, player or npc.

Claiming Bounties

Several people have also assumed that a bounty cannot be claimed after your kingdom dies.

This is not the case. Bounties can be claimed at any time

Showing up on the scrolls

People has also assumed that you will not show up on the scrolls until the first refresh.

This is not the case. The rankings are also updated by in game actions.

When you declare war, you are automatically added to the ranks.

When you attack another player, both of you are automatically updated on the ranks.

Why should I kill a player with 0 turns?

Situations can arise, where a player has run out of turns, been almost killed but not quite.

Until now there has been no reason other than kindness to kill them off.

When killing a real player (instead of an NPC) you will get bonus turns in addition to the bounty that you would have already got.

These bonus turns are awarded at time of kill, rather than saved for the future, and will be between 400 and 750.

[edit]

To help even further, the turns taken to attack now maxes for war at 10 rather than 20 and at 6 for scum and sorc.

Score and Bounty Feeders

It has come to my attention that some of you are working together to create easy kills for the other kingdoms. This seriously imbalances the Hall of Fame and the ability to get turns through bounty.

It is hard to build in any internal checks to prevent this. However, in order to do the kills and deaths scores, we record the status of kingdoms involved in kills.

The extended recording was originally intended to help me work out a bug with kills, but i kept the recording after resolving that bug.

This makes it very easy to see feeder behaviour.

From this point in, we will periodically check the kill list and will respond in the following way when we find feeder behaviour.

All unclaimed bounties will be marked as claimed, and all scores (kills, deaths, points, max net etc etc) will be reset to zero for those kingdoms.

This is clearly going against the spirit of any online game, even if not - until this post - specified as illegal behaviour.

Repeated behaviour may lead to having access to the bounty screen removed, and possibly official warnings.
