So Z accidently scum killed me while trying to kill off all my troops through scum.

"15 of our peasants and 58 Longbeards were murdered last night. The people are talking bad about you, they no longer feel safe. 203 Stonefoots, 0 Ironfists, 0 Basilisks, 553 Longbeards left in the night."

I figure he saw the wrong number as my peasants :P Either way, if 58 Longbeards actually was FIrebeards, then he basically killed a killer army with just scum.

This is great... however maybe we should have 1 troops (maybe T4?) that is resistant to scum attacks?

I'm NOT sure how i feel about it.. just a suggest... cause now i realize you can do a lot of damage if someone doesnt have scum.. and then hit them after. Great strategy! but there is not preventing it (other than say keeping lots of scum)

Will have to think on that one more before can give my opinion but if nothing else maybe lower the amount of T4 that leave.

I'm not convinced this is a problem.

The thing is, if someone is killing your troops like that, what's the stop them from just scumkilling you? You're correct, there's no preventing it save for more scum, and honestly I think that's how it should be.

They may want to scum your troops down then war you for the land, but there's a balance there. In order to take a kingdom that far down, how many turns do you have to burn scumming them, and then turn around and war them down, using even more turns? It's a whole lot more then just scumkilling them, or even just warring through their defenses.

There's always a tradeoff. A kingdom that is stacked that amazingly high with defense is open to scum. A person that kills off the troops could have just scum killed the kingdom. Or burnt the temples and sorced. Conversely had they carried enough scum to stop the scummers, they may have been too low on troops to stop a straightout war or suic-sorc kingdom.

This is really only coming up because of the massive size of some kingdoms, anyways. I'm not sure the numbers were ever meant to scale to such huge kingdoms, with so many thousands of turns to use. I'm keeping an eye on it though, to see how it goes.

Yea i think maybe its good.

i'm not sure i think its bad.. just there is no troops scum don't kill... except forts.. but sadly can't stack up forts too well ;)

But as always.. anyone wants anyone dead... its not hard :P

This may sound strange, but i think its worth considering.

Why have faiths in Conquest?

No allies... no need to really NOT hit anyone, just means if 2 or 3 people play the most or are dominant, you can't hit the other person.

I get a lead in Scores, and someone who just unluckily is my faith can not hit me to try to take a lead over me. THey have to hope someone else gets on to do it and that they can get on first to try to catch up.

Maybe its worth discussing being allowed to hit your own faith.

The NPC kingdoms have done a relatively good job so far of making sure there is always someone to hit, they seem to regenerate very quickly once you kill them all off and if you play the right way you can always hit either a npc or a regular kingdom until you are just about out of turns but by then you want someone to come along and kill you so you can start over and keep racking up the points. The system seems to work pretty well in my opinion, but then again im nowhere near the top this time around

that thread has a copy of the various bits of 'storyline' over the years. It includes a description of the different varieties of droben. If droben roleplay is something you're considering let me know by PM. I ran the only 'droben only' guild as far as I'm aware, and have a certain amount of background history you might like to include.

nothing exists so far for the other races, however I have recently gone through ensuring that all the races have a logical mythological troop names, so wikipedia should be able to help a bit.

So far the only miniature i'm having commissioned that might alter the racial stereotypes found on wikipedia are the Kobolds. D&D has over the years converted kobolds to lizard like creatures. In my miniatures, I've added a velociraptor-like like toe claw on each foot, and a frill (like on a frilled lizard) to the miniatures, along with extreme oversized aggressive weapons.

the conquest troopinfo pages list all the races

Kaz i think at one time there was a whol;e game that was just dorben race.
Thinks that how they came to be. my mind is a little hazey but i belive that was so.

I was going to rp dorben in the other game but in bloodbath I think goblin and thier subraces.
Ive plated DD since it became AD&D up to a few years ago so i thin ill do close .
I will check out the kobald since i will use them alot.
thanks man.

Hopefully I'll have some photos of the kobold sculpt soon. I just thought you'd like to know about the addition of raptor-claw and frills. You'll also want to know (if you dont) that there is a random ingame boost to kobolds that occassionally increases their attacking strength, called 'Kobold Rage'

As for the old shareplay droben game. I've no idea if the troop types, racial descriptions or storyline behind them was the same, nothing exists from that time, and nobody has ever reminisced about it.

As far as droben goes, the storyline as far as 'official record' stands, was introduced in Maxim, with them being found in the mountains. I plan to explain thier disapearance / exile to their mountains using the basics of the storyline idea outlined in the 'dark lady' thread, but that pre-dates the creation of the old gods.

Of course, if it was a droben-only game. Then the fact they hid away in the mountains isn't really a problem anyway.

If it helps, the leader of the droben found in the Northern Mountains is a slightly over large Opulent, called Ruark. His title as leader (of the Northern Mountains Droben) is the Megalith, the next highest rank in The Mountain People (TMP) was Obelisk, then Stalactite/Stalagmite etc etc

Not yet, we've got a quad based game called domination which is the closest thing. Unfortunatley we dont have the player base to make an interesting guilded game at the moment.

I hope that changes, but for the last 10 years the trend had been playerbase dwindling away to a couple of handfulls of players.

First number is the actual value of the troop. The second number is its relative value compared to cost.

To expand on Maverick's comment.

Your 'troop cap' is actually a cash amount of troops that your kingdom can hold.

The raw attack scores are the strengths for a single unit, the value scores are to show which troops are better in context of your current troop cap

e.g

A unit has attack 50, defense 100, cost 3000.

A kingdom with a cap of 1,000,000 gold can hold 333 of the troops having a total attack value of 16650.

Another unit has an attack value of 30, defense 5 and cost 700.

It has weaker attack value than the first troop 1:1. But when in context of the cap of 1,000,000, the kingdom can hold 1428 of them. Giving a total offense of 42840, significantly higher than the stronger troop.
