Wars of Tonan - (Award Winning) Monarchy Miniatures

Post by Kaz » Mon Jan 31, 2011 1:58 am

It's taken a while to get here, but we did our first Trade Show this weekend, and our first few miniatures are available.

Inspired by this game, my roleplay character Islia, and her band of the immortal flute. May I present the figures in the Wars of Tonan range.

This is now an award winning range :)

brilliant! nice work - are those hand carved, molded or otherwise hand crafted, or just hand painted (which in any event were very well done/detailed particularly given the size)? 2.5 too... hope you sell out!

They were all hand sculpted by one of two sculptors in 32mm scale, moulded, cast into white metal, and then painted by someone else.

Have a couple more Tonan inspred miniatures due back from a different painter real soon (Silas and the Bloodhunter)

This offer was made on the closed facebook group, but I may as well make the same offer in here.

To those of you who's ego's demand their own alt be included among the Monarchy inspired Tonan miniatures range.

For £100 I can arrange for a sculptor to make your miniature, and send you a painted and unpainted copy.

According to whatever exchange rate google subscribes to, £80 is currently $128 rather than $200.

Assume you're referring to this pic that was used for your icon?
Image

Take away the helmet and add a load of spikes, mixed with a bit of sculptor imagination, and it should look good. Figure isn't provided painted, although we'll end up getting a copy painted up for tradeshows and website pics. Can get an additional copy painted up for and extra £5/10 depending on postage and quality of paint job

32mm is the average model size for a 6 foot tall person. It's unclear from the picture if the goblin/ork/ogre is significantly bigger than the people. We can probably push up to about 33/34mm and still get the £80 price from the sculptor, but add another mm or 2 and it might go up by £5 to £10 ish

Send me a PM if you actually want to go ahead with this

Numbering miniatures will be hard.

To do so there would need to be 'damage' to the miniature. People wont want a number scratched on ruining your miniature. Especially later when the numbers get larger.

Plus, it would have to be done by me manually, and I'd have to buy a tool to do the job to a good quality.

even on the bottom
I just know that limited editions by famous artists pay tons when numbered
I think you will succeed so want a "limited addition" numbered original
I think the initial investment to authenticate your artistry would be well worth the potential

I've just got back from exhibiting at the UK Games Expo.

We entered a few figures in the Wars of Tonan range into this years expo awards under the best new miniatures category.

Award winners are picked by a combination of judges, and votes from the 2000 people that attended the show each day.

It's been a long time coming, but finally after Jan 2000 and August 2001, a game based in Tonan has won an award.

Been a while since I wondered these halls, can see much hasn't changed.

Kaz, kudos to you for awesome work there, I might hit you up on the doing a mini of one of my favorite alts, Girk the Goblin King. And I think of more old players came up with ideas for this you could end up with a whole host of mini's.

You ever considered the idea of creating a board game out of Conan/Monarchy story? The story is obviously extremely rich, and an RPG/boardgame could breath new life into the series. Just a random though by a old member.

Anyways, if I can come up with a descriptive enough details about my Girk Character, I'll hit you up.
