They are reporting on CNN right now that they have already buried Bin Laden at Sea?

That seems stupid to me and color me a little skeptical.

Hear he was shot in the head as well, which seemed suspicious to me. Being shot in the head could mess up the appearance of the face.

Because of that, seems like it was an even worse idea to dump the body in the ocean.

Edit- Forgot to add, Like asoc above. I think it's all kind of weird how quick we throw his ass into the sea. Atleast take a pic of his body or show video of the attack and shooting. Because lets be honest. He has been reported dead before how is this any different other then the president?

They mentioned at some point during BBC news today that his identity had been confirmed by genetic testing. They didn't go into detail, but I dont see why there would be any benefit to lying about it, so I think it's pretty safe to assume it's true.

It's a pity they shot him. It would have had a lot more impact if they could let him face trial. Now he's just another martyr fallen to the hands of 'Amerika the Brutal'.

I don't mind him being dead, don't get me wrong, but showing his busted ass in chains would be be more impressive to his followers, I guess.

whilst i agree its suspicious that his corpse has been disposed of, its hardly something they can try and lie about. It would just take another video of the live OBL saying that Obama is speaking bullshit.

Has been a very surreal day with everyone celebrating someone's death ( which i agree with, just find it weird ).

They disposed of his body quickly and at sea so as to somewhat prevent his being a martyr. I'm no Obama fan, but on this one I have to give him his props. When it was confirmed that OBL was indeed there, it was his decision to make on exactly how they would go about it. He could have had them bomb it, call in predators, any number of scenarios. All of which could have wound up uncertain. A capture and trial could also be uncertain. There are all sorts of jurisdictional and international law issues that could come into play, not to mention the expense. Plus the excellent point Owly brought up about taking westerners hostage as punishment or for trade. There is sure to be a degree of retaliation, but there is little to gain from it with OBL dead. I think this was the way to go, and our forces executed it perfectly.

I thought it was a Navy SEAL who got the kill shot, not a CIA agent.

Also, as the news agencies I've seen reporting the story, the footage and details were shown to Congress, but not released to the general public (which means we probably won't see them for 20 or 30 years). On the other hand, members of both parties in congress have commented on the record as to seeing the footage and it's gruesome detail. If the Pubs and Dems both say they saw footage, it's good enough for me.
