Omar Khadr - 40 years

Can't do the time, don't do the crime.

If they give him 3x time already served (8 years in Gitmo), he gets to drop 24 years of that 40, so he's in jail for 26 years if he does his time in the US, prosecution wanted minimum 25 years.
If they repatriate him he'll do a 1/3rd of that in Canada and be out on parole.

as I read the article he's going to be out in one year, since they had a plea deal for 8 years and he already served 7 years

He serves 1 more year in Gitmo then he can be repatriated is what I came away with myself, although serving only a year flies in the face of a 40 year sentence?
So how that gets explained, comes with watching another sequel episode of Omar Khadr.

I looked at some more news reports and it's 1 year remaining in Guantanamo, then a possible transfer (if Canada wants him) for his remaining 7 years, totalling 8 more years in prison starting from now.

Rumor mill has it Omar Khadr may sue Canada for violation of his chartered rights.
As I posted in the NP paper comments on the topic, "he can sue Canada right after he faces a trial for Section 46 of the CCC sub sec (b) & (c)".
Section 46. (1) Every one commits high treason who, in Canada,
(b) levies war against Canada or does any act preparatory thereto; or
(c) assists an enemy at war with Canada, or any armed forces against whom Canadian Forces are engaged in hostilities, whether or not a state of war exists between Canada and the country whose forces they are.

I completely support him facing charges of treason. He is a disgrace to this country.

In some cases, it is a good solution.

A military jury on Sunday sentenced former child soldier Omar Khadr of Canada to 40 years more imprisonment for war crimes, including the battlefield death of a U.S. soldier.
Since when is killing an enemy on the battlefield a war crime?

Makes a body wonder doesn't it.
Here's something for Omar to contemplate..
