Repression (a new poem)

Well. until today, I had not written any poetry for 3 or 4 years.

Finally that's changed.

Repression.

Why can't I remember?
Why did I forget
How can you erase the past,
And not live with regret?

I know they are there
The memories of my past.
But why do they hide?
Why didn't they last?

I want to know
I need the pain.
I want to feel,
complete again.

But part of me
Refuses to know.
Barriers block me,
From where I must go.

How do you change
A life of repression?
Hiding the bad bits,
That lead to depression.

How do you open,
Your mind to the truth?
To know that it's alright,
To give yourself proof.

Three words, inferred but not written.

Like a lingering kiss,
or caressing touch.
These words, to some,
mean very, very much.

Those three short words,
not lightly written.
Might fuel the delusions,
of the secretly smitten.
