Post Rebirth of the Shadowmaster ~WoR~(closed)

The following is an excerpt from the Book of Ashurym, which is an account of the tragedy of sacrifice, the triumph of madness.....and the will of both demonic possession and passion....

They say that the dead are not really dead. They have just gone wandering and have forgotten to bring their flesh with them, losing the way back and forever lost in twilight. It is also said that a few....a rare few...can find their way back to their flesh. They can return the essence of their being to the vessel of it's birth and reclaim life.

But what is life? Is it the touch of a lover in shadowy evening light? The dark call to arms in desperate defense of extremity?

Or, perhaps, is life the sweet sadness of beauty. Or even the sensation of rare silk, like gentle wind on your cheek. The odorous effluvium of a spring flower, intoxicating and powerful.

This is life....?

Better to suffer the solace of death and lay among the silence of the earth for all time than to be teased and cajoled by the temptations of such a short time among the company of the living, each waking moment just one more tortured reason to embrace madness and fight the end; fight the natural order and not succumb to the grave.

And so do we come to Jushai. And so do we arrive at the doorstep of his demise.....and return again to his rebirth.

Remember, the dead are not truly dead......

Post The fall of Sundering Shadows

The account of the battle that had occured among the ruined Keep of Sundering Shadows was one that would never have been known were it not for the mad ramblings of a broken and battered scullion of the Keep's kitchens. He had hidden among the ruins, living off of the worms of the earth for six days before the vanguard of the relief column sent to rescue the beseiged Keep finally arrived. The Commander of the column was a ranking Lieutenant of one of the Lords of the Warguard of Rage, and the Keep of Sundering Shadows had belonged to one of the Warguard's Elite Captains.

Jushai...Captain of the Sky Lord's elite Black Guard, the scouts of the Warguard.

After several days of recovery, the scullion, only a boy of perhaps fifteen seasons, was taken to the holdings of the Sky Lord. He suffered from a pall of silence and could not recount what had happened. It was hoped that the ministrations of the Captain might loosen the boy's tongue enough for him to tell the tale of Sundering Shadows and shed some light on the whereabouts of it's Lord, Jushai.

Indeed, the boy's tongue was loosened, and his malady lifted. He lived another three days before he perished in a fit of madness, a sickly, virulent stench sticking to his flesh like the sweat of the dead.

What follows is the account as spoken by the boy and the fall of Jushai.....
