Post Quest for the missing scrolls 3
OOC: here is the last post: http://www.evernight.com/boards/canon/v ... 2&start=40

Ryo walked to the window. He could see the villagers going about their buisness and interacting normally. He could see his elite guard, dressed in black robes and wearing masks moving in and out of the darkness and throught the village. As safe as his village was he felt a bit anxious. It had been a while since he actually had to take a match seriously. He know his family and the new challengers from his village would not let him take it easy and he would have to use some of his most deadly attacks. Ryo lifted his sleeve where his hand wrappings on his right arm ran up to his shoulder. He rubbed the wrappings as they were perpetually a little tender from the skill hidden within his right arm, he was not called "Hokusai" for nothing. His arm was very cool to the touch, and the wrappings felt a little damp. He then pulled his sleeve down and turned around. Anko was there, waiting with her elite team of female shinobi. Then knelt before their master and waited to watch the trainning of their new guests.

Mattic walked through the village in the direction of the training hall. He was impressed with the alertness of what could only be the guardians of the village. The black robes and fierce masks they wore would be enough to scare most simple mercenaries, and any edge was useful in battle. Arriving at the hall he noticed many warriors being helped out after being injured in battle. Mattic's heart began to beat faster in anticipation of the training ahead. It was obvious that Ryo was the best of this village of warriors and that he would have much to teach Mattic.

Stepping into the hall with Lindria at his side he took in all the quietly waiting spectators and then spied Ryo across the hall at a window. Walking over he stopped and bowed his head saying,
" I'm ready to begin learning."

Lindria watched the robed and masked guards carefully. One never knew when the unexpected would happen, and she never felt safe in the presence of so many armed strangers. Arriving at the hall with Mattic she was pleased to see him give Ryo the respect of a bow. "Well done, Mattic." she thought.

After looking over the crowd, she took her place along one wall where noone could surprise her from behind. It would be interesting to see what luck Ryo had with Mattic. She could tell there was lot's of native talent there, but it would take an excellent teacher to bring it out. Actually, looking at the respect that Ryo received in the village, he must be a really good teacher.

Ryo bowed back to Mattic and to Lindria. The floor was cleared and Anko and her team came behind Mattic and Anko spoke softly into his ear...."It was wise of you to bow to the Kage, one word of advice when you train with him. Do not stop till he makes you stop...." Anko winked warmly and withdrew to the wall opposite to Lindria. Ryo took one step forward and took a scroll out of his gi. He spread it out and handed it to Mattic. Pointing to the scroll he said, "You will need to study these hand seals when you are not trainning with me. For now, let us start your hand to hand combat. You need to become strong enough to life that blade, and fast enough to use it. Attack me, watch how I defend, counter and attack you, then copy. Do this until your muscles burn. Then we will use some seals to unlock some of your sealed chakra when you are about to loose conciousness. Over time you will use your chakra more efficiently and have more of it to use. You will get much stronger and faster, and think more quickly on your feet. But first, you will wear these......." Anko's team mates brought out some weights and secured them around Mattic's legs and arms. In total 400 lbs were added to his overal weight. Then Ryo rushed at him and knocked him across the room. Mattic surprisingly landed safetly and rushed back towards the Kage...his trainning had begun.

Mattic listened to the advice from Anko with some trepidation. "Do not stop till he makes you stop...." sounded like he was in for a real test. Then Ryo told him about the the "seals" that he would be learning. "It sounds like they will let me tap the powers of my chakra to use when needed," he thought.

Mattic was surprised that somehow the weights that were added didn't weigh him down as much as he thought they would.
"I bet there's at least 300 pounds of this on me," he thought. Just as he had finished getting used to the weight Ryo rushed him and knocked him across the room. Mattic picked himself up from where he landed and rushed back, trying to use the same stance that Ryo had used. He hit Ryo with a "THUD" and it felt like he had hit a brick wall. But... Ryo was moved several feet from the impact. "Not much result, but I must have hit him kinda right for him to move at all," Mattic thought. Taking a defensive stance, Mattic waited for the next hit.

Lindria watched as Mattic prepared for his training. She was amazed at the amount of weight that Ryo felt was necessary to put on Mattic. She was a good judge of such things and thought, " I bet there's at least 400 pounds on weight in those pads." It was amazing how easily they were attached and how secure they looked.

Lindria could do nothing to help Mattic at this point. She knew that if he was to learn to use his inner strength he must do so gradually, and this looked like a good training plan. Watching Ryo plow into Mattic and almost throw him across the room was painful. But Lindria was very proud to see Mattic get up immediately and charge back at Ryo. And she saw that he had indeed been watching, for he used a close stance to the one Ryo had used to throw him and was at least a little successful as Ryo was moved several feet. She wanted to cheer, but the crowd was deadly silent as they watched the training match.

Ryo slid a few feet back and exhailed. It felt good to be countered, and it Ryo was happy to see the Mattic was adjusting to the weight well. Ryo then did some more hand signals, and reached into his chest to pull out a shuriken. He threw the shuriken at Mattic and did some more hand signals, which cloned the shuriken into 100 of them. Ryo knew that there was no way to dodge this attack and blocking was out of the question. He wondered if Mattic would shield himself with something or if he would loose his new student. The shinobi in watching were sitting behind Mattic and they realized that the shuriken would also impact them, however they performed a few hand seals and then punched the floor. Huge stone pillars burst from the ground in front of each shinobi, which had the engraved picture of that shinobi blocking. Each of the shinobi hid behind the statues and waited for Mattic's move.

Sehnsahn watched in silence as the teacher and his student sallied back and forth. Ryo's method was, perhaps, a tiny bit extreme in his opinion but he kept that to himself. To each their own way, as the saying went. Besides, Mattic wasn't complaining and it was his problem to deal with, not the house of Kaiy's.

For the time being, the assassin remained sitting offsides to observe. Later, he might inquire as to how these people survived to graduate training if the teachers regularly unleashed potentially fatal attacks on new students. It seemed somewhat unbalanced to set the skills of the yet-unlearned against the force that someone like Ryo could apparently bring to bear.

Again, to each their own...

Ryo looked to the pillars the pilliars and noticed something troublesome, one of his shinobi had summoned an earth elemental in his haste . That elemental would most definately kill most of the unsuspecting shinobi hidding behind their pilliars as well as crush Mattic. Ryo then in a puff of smoke moved to where Mattic was, grabbed him and spun around. The projectiles impacted his back, the earth elemental and the statues. Ryo's body slumped over on the ground pinning Mattic, but then with a loud sound turned into a log. Ryo stood in front of the elemental with his full battle armor and blades ready. He jumped on the leg of the elemental and ran across its chest, dragging his sword behind him as he made his way to the right shoulder of the creature then jumped off as the elemental crumbled to dust. Ryo turned to Mattic and resumed the trainning.
