Post The Search for the Sacred Bucket. II (Silence-Open)
Aye, it was good to be welcome among these friends. Had she heard herself right? Friends? These? Now that was something she has not experienced in a long long while. Comradeship outside of her own Hags. Bah, but better not to mention such sentiments, they could ruin one's reputation.

She greeted Anarane with a nod of her head. They had never met before but she had heard good things about this one.

To Dante she but grunted. Looking around at the others she assessed the group with a sour scroll, one that naturally graced her old face. Then, once she had seen enough she addressed the warrior.

I have come to keep you young ones in line. Somebody has to return your bodies to your families and followers once this gallivanting of yours is finished. I am always astonished at your young peoples desire to kill yourselves off on fool quests.

She sat down heavily, taking a load off her old bones. Traveling always wore her out so quickly, why people insisted on moving about she couldn't understand.

In either case Dante, I did not expect to see you here, I thought you had more smarts than to do some fool thing like this. Ah well, I guess it is not such a bad thing to have you around.

She hoped he, they, couldn't see the little toothless grin that quickly passed her face. She liked Dante, they had fought side by side in his lands not too long ago....that she had first stepped into his territories to invade him was not worth mentioning. In either case it did no good to go around grinning and acting all happy. She quickly returned to her scroll and turning to Kyoji she accepted his greeting.

So many names to remember, this old mind of mine isn't what it was back in the day. In either case I will do my best to address you as Kyoji from now on. As for being sandwiched between Dante and the heathens here....well, you could say I wasn't all that concerned. She gave a sly glance at Dante. It would have been a simple thing to turn and walk out of the situation. And by the way sonny, I'm not gruff, I'm ornery, there is a difference!

She leaned back then, not showing her amusement at Kyoji's remarks. Let them think her gru....ornery, she liked it that way. Willing herself to relax she noticed Anarane observing her out of the corner of her eye. A cautious one that lady, caution is always good. No doubt she was concerned as to what their newest companion was doing here. Ah well, let her worry, better others do the worrying than her. She was too old for that sort of thing.

This is a very good stew. Thx Anarane.

Soon as we finish up eatin ghere, we better start going. Lets try to reach Kyoji's home town before nightfall. I wouldnt like to spend the night in mountains, and im betting neither would you.

First because its always cold, like those long winter nights. Second, cause all of the creatures that lurk there during the night. Blood thirsty mountian lions, war-mongering orcs, plus many more. If we do spend the night there. Ok. We are four now. We need to stick aside if we have any disagreements and stick together side by side. At least in the mountains anyway.

You are most welcome Dante. I am glad it is good.

I agree we should try to make Kyoji's hometown before nightfall if it is possible. Though I think it will have a lot to do with how quickly we can travel.

Her eyes traveled to the old woman, but did not linger. There was something she was unsure about her. She would accept that Dante and Kyoji felt that it was safe for her to join them, but she would keep an eye on her. I was not about to let her interfere with my plans.

With the fact that they did not know that Farene was here as well, she was not really sure that making the town so close to nightfall was a good thing, but we shall see what happens.

If everyone is finished, I will clean up and we can be on our way. She busied herself with getting things together and putting out the fire.

"As long as you do what you can Sass, I'm sure it will be fine. As for my fathers castle, it is not far. It is only about 9 now and at the speed we have been travelling, it will be just past dinner when we get there. The journey is quite short when you come this way. It is off the main pass you see." Kyoji smiled broadly.

The clean up went quick as many hand make light work. And Air Kami make the work even lighter. Soon they were on their way. Fortunately for Kyoji, no one had noticed he carried a new sword yet. It was his hope that they wouldn't.

So it came that they came to the borders of Kyoji's family land. Three walking and Sass on her column of air. As Kyoji suspected, there was a patrol approaching within minutes.

"Halt!" The soldiers approached. Kyoji grinned. "It is good to see you Hiro. We have come to make use of my fathers library. Tell me is the old man well?" The soldiers face turned grim. "You should not have returned Kyoji-sama. You know your father told you to leave and never return. We have been ordered to take you to him imediately if we see you. I suspect he will have you thrown in the stockade. Hiroji-sama is still very upset. I'm sorry old friend, but you will have to come with me."

Kyoji laughed out loud. "Hiro, I have every intention of going strait to my father's castle. I do not need an escort. But if you and your men are going that way, then I will not complain at the company." Kyoji's face instantly lost all joviality and became a mask of determination and grim. "But I will not be taken prisoner today, Hiro-san." Hiro took a step back but did not relent. "I am under orders Kyoji-sama, I cannot disobey. We are going to the capital anyway, we can share the road I'm sure." Kyoji's face returned to it's normal brightness. "Of course Hiro. Lead on."

The trip was quick, the roads in these lands were kept in excellent condition. Mostly for mobility's sake. An army must travel quickly to defend such large borders. As they walked, Kyoij spoke to Hiro, "See that my companions are treated well despite their company. The Warrior is Dante, the older woman is Sass, the other woman is Anarane." Hiro only nodded. Kyoji fell back to his companions. "That is Hiro, he is a child hood friend, his father saved my life when I was a boy. He is the finest magistrate these lands have seen. He will make sure you are well attended during your stay. I will have to leave you to speak with my father. We have some things to settle before he tries to throw me in prison. You will not be allowed to attend I'm afraid. Look! There is my home!"

A large castle loomed on the horizon, the palisades and walls were as high as a dozen men, and inside towers rose like teeth in the mouth. The party approached the front gate where there was a group waiting. Kyoji's expression didn't change one bit. "Hello father..."

She sat silently, by herself. The bar was quiet for it was still early. In front of here was a large flagon of ale. It was almost untouched; she was nursing it for she knew not how long she would be sitting here. Her long legs stretched out under the table, one of them slipping through the split in her cloak. More than one roaming eye admired its shape and strength. Yet these men kept their distance, it was a combination of the darkness in her eyes and the severed finger that now lay on the floor for all to see. Naturally upon entering the establishment she had been immediately set upon by the nearest pig that couldn't keep the business in his pants under control.

She had been cold and aloof with him, openly mocking his stench and girth. Yet still he persisted and when he had laid his finger along the side of her face she had proceed to cut it off. Slipping under his arm she had twisted him and shoved him head first into the table. Then before he could squeal for his life her dagger had sliced the misbehaving digit from it's 3 brothers and sister.

That had been the first and last interruption of her meal, which had now stretched into the ale she drank. The finger still lay there, on the dirt floor, the barkeep had tried to remove it, muttering under his breath that it was bad for business. She had simply picked up her dagger and carefully sliced the meat of her stew, slowly, very slowly, allowing the man to fully appreciate the edge her dagger held. He had read the message and had backed off, leaving the dirty piece of flesh lying where it was.

Absent mindedly she pulled the parchment that brought her to these parts out from under her cloak. Unrolling it she scanned the words again. The summoning of a quest it said, retrieval of an artifact. She smiled, it was not a pleasant smile, although beautiful, her face held no warmth. She was familiar with those involved, she also knew they would be heading this way, passing on this road. She had been waiting a number of days now, it was only a matter of time. She took another sip of her drink and still ignoring the swines of the establishment she focused on a small band of travelers heading down the road.

It was them, a little behind schedule she thought, but then such quests were full of unexpected surprises. She watched them go past, studying each individual in part. An interesting bunch indeed, she had expected more, and bigger, hairier men. Instead they had an old grandmother hobbling along as if ready to die any second.

Moving casually to the door, leaving her drink behind her she peered out after the group. Shielding her eyes with her hand she watched them move ahead, with a last quick glance over her shoulder to see the barkeep tossing the finger out a window she stepped out onto the road, joining in with the small crowds traveling the roads.

This would be easier than she had originally thought, like taking candy from a baby.

The guards looked at Kyoji in a respectfull, yet wanting to kill him sort of way. It looked like Kyoji had a disturbed past in his hometown. I didnt know what was going on, yet I didnt want to ask him. The escort was a good idea, for they seemed to know the mountains and this path, for wild animals would stay afar if they see many. The escort where in front, and in the back of us. I never stopped clutching my sword, for I wasn't fully sure of their intentions. They seemed with good intentions, but one can never be to sure about it. The town we arrived to seemed to be a very prosperous one. Merchants from all around the surroundings of the mountains. Guards where at every post, keeping the village away form harm. Thats not very usual to find. But its always good. The castle to where Kyoji's family lived can be seen up ahead. They had even more guards in the entrance. The security was good. But this time it was in an excess it seemed. Its true that mountain ranges have danger lurking around in every turn, but... this is all to much.

It almost seems that this town is keeping something secret from the rest of the world...

The trip had been short, she had spent most of the time in her miniature whirlwind. It was not much larger than an amour clad warrior but it was strong enough to lift her off the ground and carry her around. It really was the way to travel, it saved walking, she was sure that was the way of the future, energy conservation, she had no doubt of this. In either case she eventually had to leave the column of air behind, letting it dissipate into a swift breeze she slowly touched down, as they entered the more populated area of the kingdom. The last thing she wanted was for some curious little child to get to close and get tossed by the miniature tornado. Granted it would be funny, but not all that nice upon her first visit to these parts.

Grumbling to her new companions upon touching down she walked slightly behind them.

Damn populated towns, force me to walk with you crazy fools! Oh well, there could be worse places than being in some foreign village surrounded by these annoying peons who toil like their lives actually mean something. I can't really think of those places right now but I'm sure I've visited them.

She looked around herself checking out the sights, it was a pleasant enough of a place despite her words. She wondered what it was that had caused the animosity between these people and Kyoji. Oh well, as long as they didn't spend too much time here. She did not like being so far from her Hags for prolonged periods of time. They would manage just fine without her but she just didn't like leaving thing so out of her control.

Finally getting fed up with the slow pace she marched ahead in her jerky gait, a walk that looked more painful than was worth the effort it took. She quickly weaved through her companions with deceiving agility and reaching up she slapped her walking stick up side the head of the guide. She was amused at the reaction that brought, he turned red a beet and bubbled up like a blow fish, and upon seeing the four foot little old lady standing before him he seemed to gain confidence quickly. His chest puffed up and looking down at her in a condescending way he addressed her.

Grandma, I would appreciate it if you wouldn't slap me with that stick of yours, if you need me, ask me a question and I'll be happy to answer it for you. Now, ask me the question and be gone with you. I have more important things to do than listen to the ramblings of the elderly.

She stood still for a second before slamming her stick deep into his gut, this brought his face down to her level and while he still gasped for breath she hooked her long bony finger around his lip and snagged his cheek, then, in her sweetest voice she answered him.

Now I don't know what kind of animal has been dragging its arse across your face but I suggest that you pay a little more respect to your elders or you may just have a Grandma use you for that same purpose. Do you understand me sonny? Now come, let us walk together.

Not cutting the man any slack, she detested insolence, she dragged him forward as she moved, neither did she slow her pace at all. The tall guard was forced to keep up lest she pull his face apart with those tough little hands of hers.

Now all I wanted to know was where it is you are taking us and if you could possibly pick up the pace a bit. I've been looking forward to a nice soft bed all day. I'm assuming where we are going is of such a quality?

The gurgling response assured her it was

Very good, you are learning quickly. A few more prompt and straight answers like that and you might just make a worthy arse wipe yet. Now, if you would be so kind as to find us that place let us get a move on! We have places to visit, things to do, people to kill!

She released him with a jerk and he went reeling backwards just barely keeping upright. Embarrassed and offended he rubbed his cheek, and then keeping his eyes down lest he should meet a mocking gaze he hurried forward, Hiro, his supervisor gave a short chuckle and turning to the Sass the Hag he gave her a quick assurance.

No worries m'Lady, there are quarters enough for the lot of you. You will sleep well tonight, even the most weary of bones will lose their pains in our goose feathered beds. And I must thank you for saving me the business of straightening that insolent bastard out. I was not looking forward to the task yet I believe he will be of little trouble after being brought down in public in such a manner.

Satisfied she dropped back to her companions until they reached the gates.

Well come now, open the doors!

While the group had first met the Furry one called Edgar, the child had been listening intently and grown quite eager to join the adventure. Firavain hadn't even noticed her elderly companion had fallen asleep in the chair she sat in. When the others had packed up and left together, Firavain followed to the door then looked back and frowned seeing the old woman asleep, snoring in the chair.

The woman's gray and white streaked hair hung down over her face, her thick wrinkly skin seemed to flutter with each impending snore. Firavain groaned and went outside. She'd watched the direction the party had taken when they left and tried to remember everything they'd said about where they were going. She watched them all as they left that evening until she couldn't see them anymore.

Going into the wagon she pulled down their packs and blankets and put a bucket of water and oats down for the horse. In her short time of traveling with this old woman, Firavain had learned she had a strange way of dropping off to sleep at a moment's notice without any warning at all. Usually when she woke, the old woman had an idea about where to go next or what to do wherever they were at the time.

Firavain had started to think the woman was some sort of seer but she wasn't sure at all yet. She'd spent that night and the next morning curled up in a blanket on the floor beside the woman asleep herself, between times going outside and wandering around with Twidgett. All the time anyone else who came and went from the place just seemed to ignore the happenstance twosome all together.

Finally early that afternoon the old woman opened her eyes and sat up with a great hurumff and a snorting cough. She looked around, stood up clearing her throat and asked Firavain, "Where t'others go off to? How long was I asleep child?"

Firavain frowned up at the woman from where she sat in a booth a few steps away and replied, with as much disgust as she could muster, "They've left, of course. Left behind because you couldn't stay awake. Thanks alot. Why do you always do that?"

As if it could sense Firavain's agitation, the cricket in her shirt pocket started chirrping along as loudly as it could until Firavain patted her pocket softly and cooed at Twidgett. The old woman stood up stretching and let out a great yawn.

"Let's get on the road while the trail is still fairly fresh," the woman said as she fished into her pack for some buttered bread to share with Firavain.

Soon they were on the road again. Before the woman climbed aboard the wagon seat she'd whispered to the horse while she fed him a sweet green apple. Clucking her tongue to the beast, she laughed and patted Firavain's knee with a warm smile.

"No worrying now, horse knows the way, a good nose he has. Not as good as a hound's mind you, but he'll get us where we're going in no time at all. And as for my sudden bouts of sleep, well child, I'm an old, old woman, I need my rest." But there was something more in the smile she gave and the twinkle in her eyes.

Firavain nodded and smiled back, her misgivings forgotten as quickly as they'd come up before. She watched the road and scenery as it went by and watched for signs of the others hoping they'd catch up before the next night passed.

She did not like the looks of the way things were going. They had been surrounded by guards and were being lead who knew where. This was not a good sign. She didn't like the idea of them being in such a large crowd as well so close to dark. She hoped that they would soon be given quarters.

She had watched the old woman and her interaction with one of the guards that was accompanying them. She had to admit she was a feisty old woman and that perhaps there was more to her then met the eye. She had a feeling that she would have to be careful around her though. She did not trust her at all. Though she had found out about where they would be staying. She just hoped that was not in the town prison.

She watched Kyoji and his interaction with the men. One in particular he seemed to know very well. That one seemed to be in charge of this party. She was beginning to feel on edge. It was getting close to sunset and they had not yet been given a place to stay. This was not good, not good at all.

We stepped in to a castle. A very wealthy one, without to mention the beauty of it. It looked as it hasnt fought a war in ages. It was to prestiged... to well taken care of. No moss in the walls, no dented boulders, nothing. As if they had build the castle one day before. It was pretty much new. I didnt expected we would be greeted in the castle. But to the looks of it, it seemed as it ran through the blood of Kyoji. As we stepped into the castle, Kyoji seemed to know its way around, like a child playing amongst darkness and never getting lost.

They took us in to a large corridor. A guard pointed to a door to the right.

This is where you will sleep. I will show the others to their sleeping quarters.

I must thank you for showing me to my quarters, but I must insist, that we all sleep together. I am not used to being alone, nor my companions.

I lied.

It was the only way we could all be together.

The guard didnt know what to do. He seemed to be indicisive. I noticed a person was following us since we stepped in the castle. The guard looked at that person. He gave a nod of approvement. He seemed to be a counselor of some sort, for the garmets he was wearing where not like the rest of the people here. It gave him somekind of prestigue amongst everyone.

Fine. You may all rest here tonight. The room is not fit to sleep 4, but it will do for the night. Tomorrow I shall find you better sleeping quarters.

Thank you.

The strange man of disctintion looked at Kyoji. For the first time I heard that man speak.

Kyoji, follow me. We got matters to attend to.

Kyoji didnt hesitate and followed the man...

I couldnt sleep that. I needed to go for a walk. A stroll through the castle would seem a good idea to get my mind of things, but probably the door would be guarded, and the window is on a few meters above ground. I could jump it, but i could get hurt. Anarane and Sass where in the room too. Im glad they are there. It would be too much to think about. What am I saying ? Have I grown attached to these people. To Anarane, to Kyoji, and to Sass. If I get attached, then im in trouble. Since if anyone of them is hurt, feelings are involved in vengeance. Nothing good can ever come out if feelings are involved in the matter. I need to get my mind of things. I went from my sword. I reached for the door and got it open. To my surprise, it wasnt guarded. I went for walk...

Farene watched as Dante left the room. The old woman was asleep or so it appeared. She got up and walked to the door and looked out. As she did, she saw Dante disappear around the corner. She wondered for a moment if she should follow him. With a flash of her red eyes, she thought there might be better things she could do. It would not do for her to come face to face with him, for she was sure that he would know her for what she was. No, instead she went to see what kind of havoc she could cause. After all it was only one a few joys she got out of life, entrapped in this body. Even sometime it had it's advantages. She could get closer to her intended victim as an elf. She slithered down the hall in the opposite direction from Dante.

She grumbled under her breath.

Young uns! What are they good for? Absolutely nuthin!

Look at them, here they are off on a quest, a physically and mentaly challenging adventure ahead and what do you do? Here we have an oppertunity to sleep! To rest our bones and our minds! But nope....whoop, off they go to do their own thing! Crazy little buggers!

She scrolled after the two travelling companions who had left. No doubt off to satisfy their carnal desires. Damned lucky that she no longer had such desires! It was good to be free....yet perhaps she would venture out into the night also. To watch over her young and ignorant companions. The night was a dangerous time and she wouldn't want anything to happen to them now would she? No, of course not!

And so, the old hag slowly propped herself up. Using her twisted cane it seemed to be almost a torturous ordeal. Once up she hobbled to the door, the brief rest had left her joints even more stiff than usual. So, walking down the coridoor in the direction Dante had gone she slipped along quietly.

Farene slipped through the shadows. In this castles there were many and this made her happy. As she slide along the walls feeling there cold dampness against her skin. It inflame her blood, she sniffed the air, searching. Farene wondered if she could find anyone or anything interesting within these walls. If she could not find anything interesting, maybe, her eyes getting a brighter red, she could make a little fun. She had never gotten access to a whole area full of new people to perhaps torment and taunt. She continued searching the halls and rooms. Searching for dark or weak souls.

The castle seemed quiet. Not usual. No guards in anywhere in the castle. Yet they maintained their post in the outside wall. Walking through the shadows, I could hear music. Such sweet, soft notes as yet musician's cunning, never gave the enraptured air, yet their was something peticuliuar about it. I was drawing closer to the source of the sound. It was a grand hall. A little girl was producing the music as if she been practicing for ages. She stood still with her flute, in the end of the hall, playing for the moonlight. Whats that. A dragon in the distance, coming from down the mountain. It was drawing itself towards the little girl. She didnt stand a chance against such a beast. The dragon flew right past the girl. How could that be. The dragon set feet on ground, and walked towards the girl. Seemed the soft melody that the flute was making seemed to contol the dragon. Ive heard rumors that music hath charms to soothe a savage beast, to soften rocks, or to bend a knotted oak. Yet i only speculated they where only rumors. This land indeed has its secrets.

"Do you have it?" Hiroji bore holes into Kyoji wwith his eyes. "Yes father I have it. But I will not return it. It was given to me by those that even you must answer to." Kyoji stood resolute facing his father for the first time in years. "I will not disobey the founder of our family. you will no longer rule. Akodo himself has given me this sword, and you will not take it from me by coersion or force. If it costs me my name then so be it. I have been told that a new family is to start. Your dynasty is dead father." Kyoji stood up to leave. Hiroji signalled to the guards. Five imediately moved to Kyoji. He drew his sword. It came to life, fire coursing down its blade. Kyoji held the no-dachi in a defensive stance. The guards stopped. "This blade is not meant to spill the blood of my kin father. But if you choose to send them to their deaths I will give it to them."

Hiroji faltered and sat. "Guards, leave us." The guards filed out of the room. "Why my son? Why are you doing this to me?" Kyoji put his sword back in its place by his side. "Because father, you are too old to rule. Our family has been proud for years. No one has had nerve enough to march upon us in all the time of your rule. It is because of that that your instinct is soft. You would not know how to handle an attack if one came to you. Our family's sword was delivered to me by the spirit of your own father. But since I have been banished from my family, I may not rule it. I am starting my own family father. The Akodo rle this land no more. This will be that age of the Kyoji. Akodo Hiro will be that new Daimyo of the Akodo family. He will answer directly to me. You will advise him in any way you can." Kyoji felt something that he had never felt before. He felt his will stretching out to dominate his father. It was the other end of a feeling that he had felt many times before. It was the effect of leadership. Kyoji had in fact become the leader of his family and now of his clan. "No one is to know but Hiro and us. When I return, the news will be spread through the land that I am now the ruler of this empire."

"Yes Kyoji-sama, I will..." Guards rushed in the room. "Excuse our interuption Samas. There is a dragon approaching the castles and two of the prisoners are missing. There are also soldiers reporting that a demon is haunting them." Kyoji didn't wait for another word. "Send for Hiro, and inform him of the news. Father, find them and send soldiers to get rid of that dragon." Kyoji dashed out the door and to his friends room to find the door open...

As Farene slipped one shadow to the next, she felt the threads of discord. Her lips curled up into a evil smile. Yes, she thought, this could be fun after all. It was coming from the room over there. She watched as the guards left the room, from her place hidden from sight. She could hear voice in the room. One was that of the one Anarane was traveling with, Kyoji. There was something different about his manner.

Farene heard the guards rushing down the hall and bursting back into the room. She like the feel of all the chaos. There was something about a dragon and the escape of two prisoners. She raised an eyebrow at the mention of a demon. Chuckling to herself over the touching of the few minds she had encountered. It was a few hours yet to daylight and she found one she felt could be fun with. The one Kyoji had left the room and had left his father behind. There was a wicked glint in her eyes as they began to glow a brighter red. Keeping to the shadows she slipped into the room. The father had given orders to dispatch of the dragon and was all but alone in the room. No need to speak in the room.

You let your son speak to you like that Hiroji. What an insolent child. You need to retrieve the sword and put the boy in his place. She watched as he looked around the room trying to find where the voice was coming from.

There where to many guards flowing through the halls of the castle. Could they might have noticed of m abscence. I needed to get back to the room. Yet, the only way i knew how to, was through the great hall. I need to retrocede and find another way. I headed back to whre the little girl and the dragon where. She still played her flute, as the dragon just stared at her. The dragon was at peace. Suddenly out of nowhere, some knights strolled into the room. They didnt notice the prescense of the girl, yet they wanted to get rid of the dragon. As the knights drew out their swords, the dragon gave them a whip with its long and thorn filled tail. 1/3 of the knights where down. There was no telling what the dragon might do next. But the little girl still remained calmed, playing her instrument. The knights noticed this. They charged to the girl, but the dragon impeded that. There was no way for them to get to the girl, except if they passed the dragon. There was little they could do. The dragon grew tired and lifted the girl upon his back. Both flew out of the castle, as if nothing happened.

This was my chance to go through the great hall to my room. As guards where distracted, there was no one.

I found the room. I find Kyoji inside.

Kyoji stood in the middle of the empty room as Dante returned. He was surprised to see him there. "You should not have left Dante. Where are the others?" Dante gave Kyoji a quizzing look. Kyoji sighed. "You and the others are prisoner here. Inmy homeland we treat our prisoners as honoured guests. though you are still being held captive, you are also treated with eery courtesy that we can afford. Do you know where the others went?" Dante only shook his head. "Well since you have left already once, perhaps we should look for the others. My business with my father is finished and I release all three of you on authority of the ruler of the lands." Come let us go.

Meanwhile in the throne room...
"Wh-who said that? Who's there? I cannot go against the will of my ancestors. They have chosen my son to lead us. I don't have the power to oppose him anymore. What manner of demon are you?"

She is right Hiroji-san. You should take your son's life with the very sword he stole from you. I can give you the power to do so. All I ask is something so small you would hardly miss it. I just want your name. Allow me to serve you Hiroji, I will be the start of your new empire. Don't listen to that harlot over there. She will only betray you. I am your friend not she.

They haev a weird way to keep prisoners here. Anyone can "waltz" out of here with ease. Yet the room was empty. There was nobody exept for Kyoji and Me. Where could Anarane and Sass be. When I left, they where both asleep. Atleast they looked as if they where asleep.

We must look for them, for they could be in danger. On my way back, in each hall i could see a squad of soldiers, looking for something. Probably us, I dont know. But its dangerous now.

This is strange. Its strange but true, for truth is always strange, stranger than lies.

The truth is that there gone. Where they go, i dont know, where could they be, i dont know. Will i stand here and do nothing. No!

Lets sweep the caslte Kyoji. We find them as fast as we can, and probably best if we also leave the castle too.
What ya think?

"It is my peoples custom, Dnate. Warriors are honoured for their skill no matter which side they fight on." Kyoji looked grim. "If what you say is true then we had better find them quickly. Those troops are looking for you. They are also going to see a dragon that has appeared in the court yard. My family believes that a dragon appearing is a portent of great change in the lives of those who are near it. The castle should not be hard to search, I grew up here and know every passage and shortcut. Stay close there are said to be evil spirits that haunt some passages." We do not need to fear the castle any longer. I am in charge now. And you are now a welcome guest." Kyoji and Datne left the room and started their search of the castle. After much searching they had yet to find either of the women.

Yes, ive seen the dragon. I came from there not a long time ago. A little girl manipulated it with ease, with the help of a flute. The castle soldiers will have a hard time with it. It will help us buy some time.

We left the room, and started to look for Anarane and Sass. The castle was filled with passageways, countless passageways. Kyoji knew where each passage way led to. To a dinner hall, to a music room, to a library. We have checked countless rooms. Yet no sign of them.

It is getting close to daylight, an hour at the most.

We need to split up if we want to find them faster.

Farene was listening to what Hiroji was saying, when suddenly there was another. The voice she heard was not in the room but she heard it in her mind. Her eyes flashed bright red when she heard it. How dare they mess in her business. Calling her a harlot and saying she would betray him. Her eyes scanned the room. Seeing a slight movement to her right. She glared in its direction.

How dare you interfere with my business here! Who are you? You have two choices. Get out or help. It can not be both ways.

Hiroji, This one does not have your best interest at heart. I will protect you and the only thing I want is to find the object that is being quested for. I will not take your name. I will help you build you empire to it's former glory. And you will have your sword in return.

Farene looked again to her right. Watching the shadowy figure. Waiting for his response.

"You are either very blessed or very cursed Dante. Seeing a dragon is a life altering experience. The dragons of this land are not like the dragons you know. They are the embodiment of each of the elements. They are as powerful as the gods. The troops you see running, are not running to slay the dragon. They are running to see it. Dragons do not like an audience. They will scare it off, hopefully.... No we should not split up Dante. You would never find your way again. It may not seem like it but we have searched most of the castle already. There is little left but the throne room. and court yards. I would prefer to avoid the yard while there is a dragon runnning around. My life has been too unstable as it is lately. Follow me."

In the throne room...

You are funny little one, but you don't know what you are dealing with. That is not me. I can not enter this world without a name. Nor am I interested in helping you. You seek to cause chaos. I have specific goals. Goals which you are not a part of. Now be gone or I will make you gone. turning his attention back to Hiroji once more the oni continued his plea. Come now old man. You know you cannot beat him without my help. Help me to help you take back what is rightfully yours.

Hiroji faltered and fell to his knees. He drew a knife and cut his palm. "I give you my name. Come forth Oni no Hiroji." The air in the room became thick. the dark form in the corner flew fromt he vortex opening. A demon nearly the size of an elephant came through. It's 4 massive arms each carried an axe. Thorns grew from it's back. It's face almost feline but for the carapace-like armor. Armor that covered its whole body. It let out a sound that would make even the most stalwart soldier quiver and dark energy was let out and consumed Hiroji. When it cleared, the man stood taller than before. Darker shadows covered his features. Youth was returned to him. Both Hirojis turned their attention towards Farane, just as Dante and Kyoji walked into the room.

Farene was furious to be spoke to like that. Of course she wanted to cause chaos most demons do. But she was being dismisses like she didn't even exist. Not only that she was being threatened. Before she had a chance to say anything, it had turned back to Hiroji.

She watched as Hiroji fell to his knees and pulled out a knife. She started toward him to stop what he was doing but she was not quick enough. Hiroji cut his palm and invited the other in. As the vortex opened, Farene fall back into the shadows. The creature she saw emerge was a thing she had only heard about in legends as a small demon child. The change in Hiroji was almost in an instant. Her eyes were flashing brightly as she fell to her knees before one she knew to be more powerful then she could ever be. I am here to serve Hiroji. Just as the words left her mind to his, Dante and Kyoji come in the room. Farene could feel daylight coming near. She tired to slip into the darker shadows of the room before she was seen.
