::She smiled at him, then took his hand gently in her own and squeezed it softly.

Im glad i came here with you, only, its almost daylight now, and i must go. It was nice to get away from everything for awhile, but i must go , i have work to oversee and i need to take care of my land
Maybe ill see you again sometime.

::With that she turned, and ,moving on silent feet she disappeared beneath the water and then through the grove and was gone from his sight.

And then she was gone again—simply disappearing into the beginnings of the dawn.

He was almost in a dream-like state. Merely seconds ago she was with him, smiling at him, holding his hand… then she vanished once more. He almost had to remind himself that it was real, that he hadn’t just imagined everything.

The elf slowly rose to his feet and made his way out of the cave, back to reality. It had been several days since he had been back to his small castle and he should probably make himself seen so people don’t start talking.

As the first rays of golden-orange sunlight began to peak over the horizon, the dark elf started walking. His mind wandering back to her, back to Kalarria. Wondering if he would see her again, if she would ever return to his lands, to the peaceful place.

Hoping…

The dark elf began walking back to his keep. He followed a small stream which drained the crystal clear lake. The rising sun on his back cast long shadows with its orange-red light.

The stream changed course, leaving the clearing and entering the dense woods, threading itself between the great, ancient trees. The dark elf gladly followed it into the darkness, as he really did not like being in the light at all, it made him feel uncomfortable.

He walked quietly, not really paying much attention to his surrounds, his thoughts bouncing around in his head. Another bend in the stream at the base of a hill, and he ceased to follow it, instead starting up the hill.

Almost there now.

He crested the hill, and below him lay a peaceful valley, his home. The valley, like the majority of his lands, was covered in trees, barely an open spot noticeable in the think tree cover. His keep was in the center of the valley. As he made his way down the hill, he approached the outer wall. The wall was made of ancient trees, growing so close together over thousands of years that their trunks essentially fused together, creating an impenetrable wall.

Rounding the wall, he came to the entrance, and simply nodded to the guard as he passed through. He walked quietly through the street towards the keep in the center of the village. Entering his keep, he went directly to his chambers. He didn’t realize how entirely exhausted he was until just then, his mind had been entirely occupied with thoughts of her. He was asleep almost before he even touched his pillow…..

Dreams. Vivid dreams. Never before had the he had dreams that seemed to be so real, so life-like. It was almost as if he were reliving the previous night. Every movement she made, every expression on her face—he could see it all. He could even feel her hand still in his.

Then, she was gone again, and he was once again walking home. However, this time, there was a glow following him. As he turned his head to look, he saw two large, bright eyes glowing green, following him every step….

The dark elf awoke from his deep sleep, leaving the dreams of her behind. Sitting up, he looked out the window. The sun was still up, bright yellow and low on the horizon, but still wouldn’t be setting for several hours yet. With a sigh, he laid back in bed. He had another couple of hours yet to sleep, to dream. However, as he lay in bed, the thoughts racing though his mind kept him awake this time…

Dusk finally came. The last rays of the sun began to disappear once again below the horizon, leaving just an orange-red glow in about a third of the sky. The moon had yet to show itself, that was several hours away yet. He got out of bed, and then got dressed. Then he made his way to the large window in the room, pacing in front of it.

He still didn’t know what he would do tonight. He wanted so much to go back to her lands, to find her again, to be with her. But, then again, he didn’t want to be overbearing. Maybe he would just stay in his boarders this evening, return to the lake. Maybe then she would return as well….

He began walking, in no hurry at all, just slowly. The dark elf stayed in the cover of the dark woods, out of habit, eventhough he knew that he had to need to be cautious within his own borders. The sky was vacant of all cloud cover—the stars themselves generating enough light to create shadows going in all directions. The sound of the babbling creak hitting his ears signaled that he was very close. Leaving the cover of the trees, he approached the lake once again...

He neared the water’s edge. The moon was beginning to rise by this point, reflecting its light off of the surface of the water, making it appear to be a crystal mirror. Instead of entering the cave, the dark elf made his way to a large, flat rock which protruded just into the edge of the lake. Taking a seat upon it, he reclined back, looking up into the night’s clear sky. As he waited, hoping, he closed his eyes, and entered a light sleep.
