The pain....

Almost unbearable...

Hayste opened his eyes and quickly bolted upright, and in doing so the strain on his muscles caused him to fall right back down. His entire body ached, inside and out. Hayste let out a feeble scream as he lie in the dirt.

Feeble...this moment was perhaps the first time that such a word could be used to describe Hayste, and Hayste's current mental state was more that of a small child who wakes up in a strange room than that of the superior being Hayste once was.

Well, look what we have here...Some pretty boy taking a nap in our woods.

Hayste strained his neck upwards to see a group of three burly men. Had he been in his normal state, Hayste would have considered worthless more than the scum that floats around in stagnant puddles of water. Right now was different though, Hayste knew that he was not the same, although he had trouble remembering exactly what happened, or why he was here right now.

More concentrated on what was happening now than why it was happening, Hayste looked around for a place to run, the pain from turning his neck coursing through his body.

What are you lookin' for, pretty boy?

The dominant ruffian kicked Hayste squarely in the chest, and the other two advanced, which Hayste did not take as a good sign.

Gathering every ounce of energy he could, Hayste quickly lifted himself off the ground, and ran, as best as he could run into the trees and brush surrounding them. He didn't get very far. Within a few seconds, Hayste was back on the ground, getting pummeled by boots, which, by the way, reeked of urine and manure.

Smell!? What was happening? The absurdity of the situation finally dawned on Hayste amidst his beating. He was Hayste Oerin! The greatest Sirian warrior and mage, and a forced to be reckoned with! Again, Hayste gathered his strength and stood.

You have made a mistake, you pathetic primates! Feel my wrath!

At this point, large amounts of magical enrgy were supposed to shoot out from Hayste's hands, but for some reason they did not. The filthy men looked at Hayste...perplexed for a few seconds, then pushed him back to the ground and proceeded kicking him.

Soon, due to repeated blows to the head, unconsciousness was offered to Hayste, and he gladly accepted.

Hayste Oerin
