Post Maxim Rules - (OOC)
Game Rules

Maxim is a game that changes per my whim and will do so with chaotic consistency. Maxim is a roleplay game, if you wish to play with efficiency, you should role play.

You are responsible for your actions. If you perform certain actions in the game, it will reflect upon you in the forum. Those who have decided to lead guilds are responsible for their members, in the game and on the boards.

All the rules of Canon apply here. You read them when you signed up.

Maxim does not reset like the other games. The ages can be very long, or very short. Most are longer.

Maxim Forum Rules

Only Admin created threads may contain OOC information. Any thread with the "(OOC)" tag is considered an out of character thread, and thus any posts made will not show or count towards any posting number that you may be attempting to meet.

All posts in Maxim not done in OOC threads, must be in character, and in roleplay format. Any posts that do not meet this criteria will be edited or removed by a staff member. A common rule of thumb is one paragraph of roleplay as the minimum allowed. A paragraph is composed of at least four sentences.

Rules for Guild Applications:

Plagiarism - Will get your charter rejected immediately. Stealing another guild's story, or rules will not be tolerated. Stealing your story from published works is also likewise not permitted. If your charter is approved, and we later find out that you stole part of it from some one, your guild will be disbanded immediately. Further, any charter found to be plagiarized has no chance of being accepted in the near future, even if you rewrite it. If you cannot put the time and effort in to write your own charter, if you cannot respect the work of other players, you don't deserve to lead a guild. That simple.

Stealing Guilds - There is a system in place where you may recover a guild that was previously approved, rather than waiting for someone to review it again. Stealing the password to recover a guild that is not yours is not allowed, and quite likely to get you banned from the game.

Duplicate Guilds - There are three guilded games, Guilds, Valid, and Maxim. Any given guild may exist in no more than one of these games at any given time. You are still allowed to GM in two, or all three of these games, however you must have a unique charter for each game.

Contact Information - You must include some form of contact information in your charter. E-mail, ICQ number, AIM screen name, anything of that sort. The only thing absolutely required is an e-mail address you check frequently. If I need to hunt you down about something concerning your guild, I'll usually use e-mail.

Guild Names - Put a little thought into them. "... of (deity)" and similar names won't be allowed.

Story Description - This is important. Creativity is a must. Some stories have been done, time and time again. If you don't have a different story, you might as well be in one of the other guilds with the same story. Do something a little different, keep it interesting.

Also, avoid direct interaction with any god in your story. Gods are very important entities. They don't often have time to meddle directly in the affairs of lowly mortals, and trust me, your characters aren't quite so important to attract godly attention. Even when a god does interfere with the little people, they're quite subtle about it. A god doesn't simply appear before a person and say "I am (insert deity name here), do as I command!".

Tempers Ball Rules - Must be included in your charter. Don't just say "Follow the TB rules". These rules are only the rules that deal with all forums in Temper's Ball. They are:
- Do not make an ass of yourself.
- Do not post bug reports on the boards, over ICQ, or in IRC unless asked specifically by staff.
- Do not post accusations of cheating on the boards. E-mail or PM one of the administrators with details.
- Do not spam or post redundant messages.
- Do not post kingdom numbers or kingdom names on the boards.
- Pornography, Piracy or other illegal material is not allowed.
- Do not post links or advertisements to hate or Anti-Evernight sites. This includes racial, ethical, or sexually related sites.

RP Rules - You likely have requirements of your members that extend beyond basic forum rules. Spell them out. Include the consequences of not following your rules.

Application Procedures - What must a player do to be accepted in your guild? Do you want them to e-mail you and answer some questions, is just pushing the "join" button in game enough? Spell it out.

Ranks and Promotions - Spell out the rights and responsibilities of each rank in your guild. Also include the procedure for moving up the ranks.

Disappearing GM - What will happen if you, as the GM are unable to perform your duties unexpectedly, and for an extended period of time? Will someone else be appointed the leader, should the guild simply disband, or something else?

Images - In your charter, you may use up to a maximum of three images, with each image less than or equal to 35k in size.

Spelling - Check it. Check it again. Have someone else check it. We don't want to have to decipher a charter.

HTML - You must use HTML in your charters, as a bare minimum the <BR> or <P> tags. We will not try to figure out a charter that is one long never-ending paragraph. If you wish to use colored text, or other things like italics to spruce it up a little, feel free, but stick to basic HTML.

Disbandment - If your guild has to be disbanded by administration for rules violations, don't expect to be accepted again for several months. If your guild has to be disbanded twice, don't expect to have it back during your, or your children's lifetimes.

Harassing Us - Spamming our e-mail boxes, or this thread with "Have you looked at my charter, is it accepted yet, did you know I sent it in?" will not make us happy. The time we spend explaining to you why we don't like being harassed about guild applications is time we could have been using to actually read your charter. Thus, if you nag us about your charter, we put off reviewing it for a day. Be patient. We will most likely get to your charter within a day or two. If it's going to take us 4 or 5 days to get to it, we will send you an e-mail and let you know.

Roleplay that is thinly veiled OOC (ie: it is regarding items that is completely ooc and not story related, but is thinly veiled by changing a word or two) will be looked at closely. If it is decided to have only been included so that you could complain or whine and "get away with it" it could be deleted.

Please keep your posts in character- not out of character but using in character terms. Thank you.

Made me wonder: will these rules change (significantly) for Covenant, or will we stick to them?

I don't think there's anything there which will change or which will be out of place in Covenant - it's all straightforward. If there's something you disagree with or have ideas on how to change for the better, though, drop me a PM.
