Monarchy Massacre : An Overview
The Massacre styles games are our unique twist on the turn-based kingdom strategy game. With traditional Kingdom based games, when you get attacked it can undo months of turns spent building and improving your kingdom. Massacre is based around the screens associated with the original Monarchy game, but with several key changes that make Massacre unique.
Massacre introduces the idea of the throw-away kingdom. Rather than death being a major issue, the Massacre engine allows a player to save their game up to a certain point, and then quickly restore themselves back to that point if they get killed.
Massacre also introduces a selection of additional ways of defining win and loss. When periodic resets occur in most kingdom based games, the hall of fame is just a list of kingdoms in networth order from highest to lowest. End of age ranks for the massacre games include: Maximum Networth, Kills, Deaths, Turns Absorbed and Points (generated based on rank throughout the age).
Massacre is also unique in it's concept of 'turns per hour'. We are proud to announce that the Solo (Conquest) and Quad (Domination) versions of the Massacre game, have a grand total of ZERO turns per hour, that's right, zero. Instead, you start with a hell of a lot of turns up front.
The guilded version of the game planned for V2, is going to work a little differently with regards to turns, but will still retain the additional screens associated with the Massacre game, the high initial turnrate, and the reduction of loss associated with the death of a kingdom.
The last two unique features associated with the Massacre engine are the bounty system, and the introduction of NPC kingdoms.
Bounties are awarded to the player that deals the final blow when killing another kingdom. The initial Massacre games enable you to claim the remaining turns of your victims, however, the V2 core opens up the ability to claim one of a choice of prices from the dead. These would include Elan and Gold, possibly even a percentage of land.
The NPC kingdoms are the most recent development for the v1 versions of the game. Created through our NPC Builder game, the NPCs are programmed to automatically restart themselves when they are killed. Each time they restart, a random NPC build is picked from a database of player submitted NPC kingdoms.
NPC Kingdoms are in place to ensure that there are always kingdoms that can be attacked, even in the quietest of hours.
